Oudenaarde is set to immerse itself in a nostalgic atmosphere on June 6th and 7th, 2026, with the Retro Ronde and Retro Oudenaarde events. The ambiance of the 1960s and 1970s will be palpable throughout the weekend.
Retro Ronde for Vintage Cyclists
Cyclists can participate in a leisurely 25 km group ride on Saturday and choose from 40, 80, or 120 km routes on Sunday to explore the Oudenaarde region. Rest stops are strategically placed at iconic locations such as the Paterberg, Willy Naessens’ Strohoeve, the Rooigemvallei, and the Flandrienhotel, allowing riders to recharge. The peloton will feature a mix of vintage racing bicycles, classic steel bikes, fixed-gear bicycles, singlespeeds, and unique vehicles like original Solex mopeds and Derny pacers. Retro attire or replica outfits are mandatory, as are traditional pedals or toe clips with straps.
Free Family Festival: Retro Oudenaarde
Concurrently, the free family festival Retro Oudenaarde will take place at the Maagdendale Abbey site (also the starting point for Saturday’s ride). The festival will host a retro and vintage market, continuous live performances, a fair, children’s entertainment, food trucks, a summer bar, and an old-timer show. This event offers a unique blend of music, vintage culture, and cycling, all set against the historic backdrop of Oudenaarde.
