Revel Bikes has officially unveiled the El Jefe Grande, a groundbreaking 32-inch titanium hardtail that reimagines the boundaries of mountain biking. Building upon the success of their 29-inch El Jefe model, the El Jefe Grande introduces a larger wheel size, necessitating a complete overhaul of geometry and frame design to optimize performance. Innovative Design and Construction
The El Jefe Grande features a titanium frame with a 3D-printed head tube, a first for Revel. This advanced construction technique enhances strength and durability, effectively managing the increased forces from the larger wheel size. The frame is designed around a 100mm fork and comes in four sizes. Every size except the small has 32″ front and rear wheels, while the small uses a 29″ rear wheel. (bikepacking.com)
Geometry and Sizing
The El Jefe Grande’s geometry is meticulously engineered to accommodate the unique characteristics of 32-inch wheels. The frame offers adjustable chainstay lengths, allowing riders to fine-tune handling and stability. The small frame uniquely pairs a 32-inch front wheel with a 29-inch rear wheel, providing a balanced ride for shorter riders. (road.cc)
Versatility and Features
Designed for versatility, the El Jefe Grande includes five sets of bottle mounts on every size, a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, and compatibility with a 34T maximum chainring. The frame also accommodates 180mm rotors through the post-mount standard and features a 31.6mm seatpost with maximum insertion lengths ranging from 275mm on the small to 295mm on the XL.
