The Veneto Divide – BIKEPACKING.comWeekend Snapshot #233: Global Bikepacking Adventures
In this edition of Weekend Snapshot, we highlight recent bikepacking escapades from our community in England, the United States, and Italy. These narratives offer a glimpse into the diverse landscapes and experiences that define the spirit of bikepacking.
Peak District, England
By Adam Batty
This past weekend, the Peak District’s woodlands were adorned with a vibrant carpet of bluebells. Departing from Sheffield, we embarked on an overnight journey that combined trail exploration, birdwatching, and the indulgence of chocolate-infused porridge amidst the serene English countryside.
St. Johns River, Florida, USA
By Todd DeMunda
On a Saturday morning, I ventured along the St. Johns River in central Florida, navigating a mix of livestock and game trails. The area teemed with free-range cattle, alligators, and feral pigs. The terrain varied from lightly trodden singletrack to challenging sections requiring hike-a-bike through intermittently dry marshlands.
Veneto Region, Italy
By Armin Haas
I had the opportunity to ride the GranGarda Gravel Route, an experience that was both astonishing and beautiful. The weather was mixed, which actually worked in our favor; the lack of heat was a relief, and the clouds and fog added a nice atmosphere. However, we didn’t expect snow this time of year. Fresh snow began at around 1,500 meters, so we adjusted our route a bit since the snow fell just as we planned to ride along Monte Baldo. Nevertheless, the alternative route was equally beautiful, and the snow added a stunning touch to the spring landscape.
