Kona’s latest innovation, the Unity, is a versatile bikepacking machine that seamlessly blends mountain bike durability with gravel bike agility. Dubbed the “ultimate utilitarian bike,” the Unity is engineered to tackle diverse terrains and heavy loads without compromising performance.
Design and Geometry
The Unity features a chromoly steel frame with a rigid fork, designed to accommodate mixed wheel sizes—29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear tires. This configuration lowers the center of gravity, enhances stability, and allows for larger tires, providing a smoother ride over rough terrains. The frame’s oversized front triangle offers ample space for large frame bags, making it ideal for extended bikepacking adventures. (bikepacking.com)
Integrated Front Rack
A standout feature of the Unity is its custom frame-mounted front rack. Bolted directly to the frame, this integrated rack carries up to 13.2 pounds (6 kg) of gear without affecting steering dynamics. This design ensures predictable handling, even when fully loaded, and provides additional mounting points for accessories. (bikepacking.com)
Cargo Capacity and Mounting Options
The Unity is equipped with 43 threaded bosses across the frame, fork, and rack, offering extensive options for mounting accessories such as bottle cages, cargo cages, and tool carriers. This versatility allows riders to customize their setup based on specific needs and preferences. (bikepacking.com)
Drivetrain and Compatibility
The bike is compatible with modern drivetrains, featuring SRAM T-Type and UDH systems. Its sliding dropouts enable fine-tuning of wheel position or conversion to a single-speed setup when necessary. Offset stays maintain optimal tire and rack clearance, ensuring smooth operation under various conditions. (bikepacking.com)

The Kona Unity is available in multiple sizes, from Small to Extra Large, with a retail price of $2,699 USD. For more information or to locate a dealer, visit Kona’s official website. (konaworld.com)
