The recent UCI Continental Series in Melgaço, Portugal, and the XCO event in Guéret, France, provided a compelling preview of the season’s contenders.
UCI Continental Series – Melgaço
Men’s Elite Race
The Melgaço circuit, renowned for its technical challenges and rapid descents, witnessed a dominant performance from the Wilier-Vittoria Factory Team. Simone Avondetto clinched victory with a time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 1 second, closely followed by teammate Juri Zanotti, who finished 16 seconds behind. David List of Decathlon Ford Racing Team secured third place, 46 seconds adrift. The Guéret event showcased a thrilling race, with Swiss rider Dario Lillo (Giant Factory Off-Road Team) emerging victorious after six laps, clocking a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 1 second. His teammate Jens Schuermans secured second place, 50 seconds behind, while Thomas Griot (Sunn Factory Racing) completed the podium, finishing 1 minute and 14 seconds adrift.
