Sweet Protection Unveils Tucker III: The Ultimate Aero Helmet

by VeloMagster

Sweet Protection has unveiled the Tucker III 2Vi MIPS Aero Road Helmet, a cutting-edge addition to their lineup that debuted on the World Tour during the 2025 Tour de France. Ridden by Jonas Abrahamsen of the Uno-X Mobility Cycling Team, the helmet contributed to a stage victory, showcasing its performance capabilities. Since then, it has undergone further refinement, establishing itself as the brand’s most advanced aerodynamic road bike helmet to date.

Design and Aerodynamics

Developed in collaboration with the Uno-X Cycling Mobility Team and Formula 1 aerodynamicist Kyle Forster, the Tucker III 2Vi MIPS helmet features a sleek outer shell with aero sculpting at the rear and chamfered vent edges to minimize turbulence. Extensive wind-tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis have optimized its design for aggressive riding positions at speeds between 45 and 50 km/h. Compared to its predecessor, the Falconer Aero 2Vi MIPS, the Tucker III reduces aerodynamic drag by up to 10 watts at race speed.

Ventilation and Comfort

Balancing aerodynamics with comfort, the helmet boasts optimized front vents, an advanced internal airflow structure, and a rear duct that efficiently expels fast-moving air. This design enhances ventilation by 150% over its predecessor, improving temperature regulation during intense efforts. The 360 Occigrip fit system ensures a snug, secure fit with on-the-fly height and width adjustments, and the helmet is ponytail compatible. Integrated eyewear grippers allow for easy storage and access, with snap-on covers to maintain aerodynamics on race day.

Safety Features

Incorporating Sweet Protection’s signature 2Vi helmet safety technology, the Tucker III 2Vi MIPS includes the MIPS Air Node integrated into the helmet padding and internal Impact Shields—foam inserts in the helmet’s corners for added protection. It meets CE EN 1078 (EU) and CPSC 1203 (US) certifications, though it has not been tested or rated by Virginia Tech.
