Miche Graff Tubeless 700 Disc Wheelset | 12×100 mm | 12×142 mm | Centerlock | Alltricks.comMiche, the renowned Italian cycling brand, has unveiled its latest innovation: the Graff RD gravel wheelset. Designed with a sharp focus on aerodynamics, this wheelset aims to redefine performance standards in the gravel racing arena.
Aerodynamic Advancements
The Graff RD wheelset introduces a new NACA airfoil-inspired rim profile, engineered to enhance airflow stability and reduce turbulence. This design ensures a seamless transition between the rim and tire, optimizing the wheel-tire system’s efficiency. Wind tunnel tests have demonstrated significant aerodynamic benefits:
-
With 47mm tires, drag decreases by 6.92% at 30 km/h and 5.94% at 40 km/h compared to the previous Graff Aero 48 model.
-
Even with 50mm tires, the Graff RD maintains an aerodynamic advantage, reducing drag by 2.73% at 30 km/h and 3.92% at 40 km/h.
Enhanced Rim Design
To meet modern gravel standards, the Graff RD features a 30mm internal hookless rim bed. This wider profile offers better tire support, allowing riders to run lower pressures for improved shock absorption and grip. The rim’s shoulder section is structurally reinforced to withstand impacts from stones and roots, ensuring durability on rugged terrains.
Lightweight Carbon Construction
Miche has incorporated VONOA carbon spokes into the Graff RD wheelset, marking the first use of this high-quality material in a gravel wheelset. Each wheel comprises 12 flat carbon spokes measuring 4×1 mm. Despite the robust construction, the complete wheelset weighs just 1,455 grams, offering a weight saving of 75 grams over the Graff Aero 48.
Precision Hubs with CeramicSpeed Bearings
The Graff RD wheelset is equipped with aluminum hub shells, machined in Italy to minimize frontal area and enhance aerodynamic performance. Inside these hubs are new CeramicSpeed ALPHA bearings, featuring silicon nitride balls that are 400% smoother, 128% harder, and 58% lighter than traditional steel bearings. These bearings, combined with friction-reducing seals, offer extended durability and reduced maintenance needs.
Pricing and Compatibility
Priced at €2,500, the Graff RD wheelset is available with Shimano MicroSpline, SRAM XDR, or Campagnolo N3W freehub bodies, catering to a wide range of gravel bike setups.
