Porsche cited “fundamentally changed market conditions for e-bike drive systems” as the reason for discontinuing its electric bike activities. While the company did not specify these changes, the European e-bike market has experienced a slowdown in recent years. In 2024, e-bike sales in Europe declined by approximately 9.65% in the UK, 15.76% in France, and 19.09% in Spain. (bicycleretailer.com)

Despite the closure of Porsche’s e-bike subsidiary, the company has announced plans to continue its electric vehicle development. The 2026 Porsche Macan Electric GTS, for example, boasts a 563-horsepower dual-motor powertrain and a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds. (caranddriver.com)

This strategic realignment underscores Porsche’s commitment to its core automotive business while adapting to evolving market dynamics.
