Look Cycle has unveiled two innovative gravel pedals tailored to meet the diverse needs of both competitive racers and adventure riders: the X-One-G and the X-Venture+. These additions to Look’s X-Track lineup aim to enhance performance and durability across various gravel cycling disciplines.
X-One-G: Precision for the Competitive Cyclist
The X-One-G is engineered for racers seeking a lightweight pedal without compromising on power transfer. Its single-sided SPD-compatible design boasts a substantial 650mm² contact area, surpassing the 515mm² of the standard X-Track pedal and even exceeding Look’s own Keo 2 Max road pedal. This expansive platform ensures optimal foot stability and efficient power delivery.
Weighing just 240g for the Ti version and 290g for the Cro-Mo axle Max version, the X-One-G stands out in its category. For context, Crankbrothers’ Eggbeater 11 pedals weigh 179g, Time’s ATAC XC12s are at 244g, and Shimano’s XTRs weigh 310g. The X-One-G maintains a Q-factor of 53mm and a stack height of 10.7mm, aligning with Look’s X-Track specifications.
X-Venture+: Versatility for the Adventure Rider
Designed with adventure cyclists and bikepackers in mind, the X-Venture+ offers a dual-sided SPD-compatible mechanism complemented by a wide mountain-bike style platform equipped with molded pins. This design provides the flexibility of clipless engagement on one side and a flat platform on the other, catering to diverse riding conditions.
At 380g, the X-Venture+ is lightweight for a pedal featuring a platform. In comparison, Shimano’s XTR enduro pedals weigh around 435g per pair, and Look’s own X-Track En-Rage pedals are at 450g per pair. The X-Venture+ is compatible with Look’s Easy Cleat (multi-directional release) and is also available in a resin platform version, the X-Venture, weighing 400g per pair.
