Revved Up: Sklar Bike’s Tall Tale Hardtail Returns with Fresh Colors!

by VeloMagster

Sklar Bikes has reintroduced its Tall Tale hardtail mountain bike, now featuring updated geometry and two new color options: Sage and Gneiss. (sklarbikes.com)

The Tall Tale is designed for versatility, accommodating both quick after-work rides and extended bikepacking adventures. It efficiently climbs while providing confidence on descents. (sklarbikes.com)

The frame is constructed from double-butted, heat-treated Chromoly steel, offering a balance between ride quality and durability. It features 29-inch wheels, a 140mm travel fork, and geometry focused on trail riding versatility. (sklarbikes.com)

The updated design includes a steeper seat tube angle of 74 degrees for more efficient pedaling, shortened reach measurements across all frame sizes for responsive handling, and external bottle bosses on small and medium frames to allow dropper posts to extend further without interfering with water bottle placement. The Tall Tale is available in four sizes—Small, Medium, Large, and XL—with fork travel ranging from 130mm to 150mm, depending on the frame size. It is designed for 29-inch x 2.6-inch tires, with clearance for up to 2.8-inch tires. (sklarbikes.com)

Complete build options include the Eagle 90 mechanical build for $4,850 and the SRAM XO Eagle AXS wireless build for $8,800. The base build features a RockShox Pike Select fork, SRAM Eagle 90 Mechanical 12-speed drivetrain, and SRAM DB8 brakes. (sklarbikes.com)
