Reimagined Rise: Merida Speeder Gravel

by VeloMagster

Merida’s Speeder has undergone a significant transformation, evolving from a fitness hybrid into a versatile flat-bar gravel bike. This redesign introduces a 50mm tyre clearance, enhancing its capability for off-road adventures and daily commuting on varied terrains. The Speeder is available in step-through and classic frame styles, with the classic frame now featuring a more pronounced top tube slope. The top-tier Speeder 500 model boasts an AL-A frame with smoothed welds and a carbon fork, while the Speeder 300, 200, and 100 models are equipped with an AL-C frame and alloy fork to maintain affordability. Additional updates include a narrower 27.2mm seatpost for improved comfort and a slacker 71-degree head tube angle for enhanced off-road stability. The 45mm tyres provide ample clearance for mudguards, and the Speeder EQ kit offers optional mudguards, a rear rack, and a frame lock mounting point. Most models now feature a 1x drivetrain, and various bag mounts are available, including fork leg bolts on the Speeder 500 and underside top tube mounts on all models. The Speeder 500 is equipped with a mixed SRAM 12-speed groupset, while other models offer Shimano 11-speed, 9-speed, or 8-speed CUES options. All models are fitted with hydraulic disc brakes and 23mm internal-width wheels to accommodate the wider tyres.
