Cycling Home from the Dolomites: A Family Adventure
Embarking on a family holiday in the Dolomites, we immersed ourselves in a blend of cycling, climbing, and exploration. As our trip neared its end, an unexpected mechanical failure left our campervan stranded, with repairs unavailable for weeks. Facing the impending start of school, we sought alternative solutions.
After considering various options, our 5-year-old daughter, Robyn, suggested, “Why don’t we cycle home?” With a week remaining and no better alternatives, we embraced the challenge. Utilizing trains to traverse northern Italy, we began our journey from Milan, cycling through picturesque landscapes to reach a ferry bound for the UK.
This impromptu adventure not only tested our endurance but also deepened our appreciation for the joy of cycling as a family.
