Victoria, Australia

Training for the FLINTA*850, I embarked on the Billy Bunyip overnighter, a route renowned for its rugged terrain and unpredictable weather. The journey tested my resilience, especially navigating rain-soaked 4WD tracks. However, the effort culminated in a serene moment as the clouds parted, revealing pristine gravel roads through the Australian forest.

Cumberland, Wisconsin, USA

Seeking solitude before the summer rush, I ventured to Timberland Hills, a newly established MTB trail system nestled in a former cross-country ski forest. The 20+ miles of rolling hills and tranquil lakes offered a perfect escape. After setting up camp, I indulged in a simple meal of cold tortilla pizzas, savoring the quiet before an early morning ride to fully experience the trails.

Kent, United Kingdom

This year’s bank holiday weekend coincided with unseasonably warm weather, presenting an ideal opportunity to explore Cycling UK’s bikepacking routes. The Cantii Way, a 145-mile journey through coastal towns, chalk cliffs, and the Kent Downs, was a highlight. Over three days, I immersed myself in the scenery, visited charming towns, and basked in the sun-drenched landscapes.
