Vittoria has expanded its Corsa PRO Control tire lineup to include wider 700x38c and 700x42c options, aiming to deliver race-level performance on rough terrains like cobblestones and compressed gravel, while maintaining speed and efficiency on asphalt.
The Corsa PRO Control is part of Vittoria’s top-tier Corsa PRO road tire family, featuring a supple 320 TPI cotton casing. Within this range, the Corsa PRO Control is specifically designed for demanding race conditions, such as the cobblestone classics.
The new 38mm and 42mm wide tires utilize the same Corsa PRO Control construction, tread pattern, and graphene compound as their narrower counterparts.
Advantages of Wider Tires
Extensive testing—both in the lab and by test riders—confirms that the optimal balance between speed, efficiency, comfort, and control lies in widths between 28mm and 30mm, with optimized tire pressure. Lower pressures enhance shock absorption, comfort, and grip, while responsiveness and rolling efficiency remain intact. Conversely, narrower tires require higher pressures, which can compromise comfort and grip.
For current bicycle models that offer more tire clearance, there’s a trend towards wider tires exceeding 30mm. Modern bikes are also engineered to perform best with wider tires, leading to the introduction of the Corsa PRO Control in 700x38c and 700x42c sizes.
