Gazelle’s Vakdagen: Empowering 350 Technicians and Retail Staff for the Upcoming Cycling Season
Royal Gazelle has launched the inaugural edition of the ‘Gazelle Vakdagen’ (Gazelle Professional Days), a strategic initiative aimed at equipping their dealer network’s technicians and retail personnel with comprehensive training ahead of the forthcoming cycling season. This initiative underscores Gazelle’s commitment to ensuring that their team is well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the cycling market.
Training Sessions Across Multiple Locations
The Gazelle Vakdagen are being conducted at Gazelle’s E-bike Test Centers in Amersfoort and Groningen, with additional sessions planned in Waalwijk and Rumst, Belgium. These sessions are meticulously designed to provide participants with in-depth product knowledge and hands-on training in technical maintenance, sales strategies, and marketing techniques. The program includes:
-
Sales Training: Focused on articulating the unique selling points of Gazelle’s latest models, including the Avignon, Cayo, and Ultimate series.
-
Brand and Product Positioning: Sessions aimed at enhancing understanding of Gazelle’s market positioning and product lineup.
-
Technical Workshops: Practical training on the Fazua motor system, featured in models like the Gazelle Cayo, to ensure technicians are adept at servicing and maintaining these advanced e-bike systems.
The response to the Gazelle Vakdagen has been overwhelmingly positive, with all available slots filled shortly after registration opened. Approximately 350 retail and workshop staff are participating, reflecting the industry’s enthusiasm for continuous professional development.
Insights from Participants
Raymond Leppink, Store Manager at Piest in Enschede, emphasized the value of the initiative:
“For us, Gazelle is the flagship brand, so it’s essential to represent it effectively to consumers. The product training and insights into the Ultimate, Cayo, and Avignon models are particularly relevant. Our technician is also here, gaining valuable knowledge about the new Fazua system, which is still relatively unfamiliar to us, but we have high expectations for the Cayo equipped with this technology.”
Casper van Velden, Workshop and Retail Staff at De Bruin Fietsen in Westland, appreciated the interactive nature of the training:
“It’s great that Gazelle has made the Vakdagen interactive with role-playing that simulates the sales conversation in the store. In sales, you get used to asking certain questions. Some questions that really matter, you sometimes skip in the hustle and bustle. But by asking the right questions and listening carefully, you are better able to advise the consumer and guide them to the right Gazelle bike. Such role-playing keeps you sharp. That’s important, especially now that Gazelle has launched many innovations in a short period.”
Elise Bruin, co-owner of Bikestore Julianadorp and Den Helder, highlighted the importance of staying informed:
“It’s important that our employees are well-informed as soon as new information is available. This way, we can sell bikes even better. Consumers usually research online before visiting the store; they know more and more. You don’t want them to lecture you in a conversation. I recently had people who had already done a lot of work with AI. They were really well-prepared. If you can go even deeper with your technical knowledge and convey a sense of feeling—such as general brand knowledge and offering a test ride—then you remain relevant as a specialist.”
Looking Ahead
The Gazelle Vakdagen exemplify the brand’s dedication to excellence and innovation in the cycling industry. By investing in the professional growth of their dealer network, Gazelle ensures that their team is equipped to deliver exceptional service and expertise to customers, reinforcing their position as a leader in the e-bike market.
