Schwalbe has unveiled the Romy, a versatile addition to its reimagined Trail/Gravity tire lineup for 2026. This new profile is designed to offer exceptional grip while reducing rolling resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of mountain biking disciplines.
A Comprehensive Overhaul of Schwalbe’s Trail/Gravity Range
In 2026, Schwalbe has restructured its Trail/Gravity tire range to enhance simplicity and clarity for riders. The new lineup is divided into three categories:
-
Gravity: Tailored for extreme downhill and enduro racing on challenging terrains, featuring the robust Gravity Pro carcass with six plies under the tread and four on the sides for maximum stability and puncture resistance.
-
Trail: Designed for all-mountain and lighter enduro practices, offering a balance between strength, lightness, grip, and rolling resistance with a three-ply carcass.
-
Race: Focused on minimal weight and optimal performance for cross-country and all-mountain riding, utilizing a three-ply under the tread and two on the sides.
Each category offers a “Pro” version, representing the highest performance level with advanced carcass construction and protective inserts. The base versions provide accessible options with quality compounds and reinforced carcasses at more affordable prices.
Introduction of the Ultra Soft Compound
Schwalbe has updated its Ultra Soft compound, now marked in purple, following collaboration with downhill and enduro teams. This compound offers a 50% increase in cushioning, enhancing grip, especially on wet surfaces, while improving durability.
Discontinuation and Introduction of New Profiles
The Hans Dampf tire has been replaced by the Romy, a new profile that offers versatility, excellent grip, and reduced rolling resistance. Schwalbe also introduces the Tacky Chan Radial, featuring a revised tread pattern and radial carcass for improved performance.
