Ride the Future: Mondraker’s Dusty E-Gravel Revolution

by VeloMagster

Mondraker, the Spanish bicycle manufacturer renowned for its innovative designs, has unveiled the latest iteration of its Dusty e-gravel bike, marking a significant evolution in the e-gravel segment. This new model is set to redefine versatility, catering to gravel enthusiasts, urban commuters, and adventure seekers alike.

A New Era for Dusty

Originally introduced in 2023, the Dusty series was Mondraker’s inaugural venture into the e-gravel category. For 2027, the brand has reimagined the Dusty, transitioning from its initial e-gravel focus to an “all-round” e-bike. This redesign aims to seamlessly blend gravel riding, commuting, and mixed-surface adventures into a single, adaptable platform.

Advanced Powertrain and Integration

At the heart of the new Dusty is the TQ HPR60 drive unit, delivering 60Nm of torque and a peak power output of 350W. This system offers up to 200% assistance, ensuring a responsive and dynamic riding experience. Strategically positioned motor and battery placements maintain a central weight distribution, preserving the bike’s natural handling characteristics, especially when assistance disengages at 25 km/h.

The integrated 580Wh internal battery provides ample range for extended rides, with select “S” models offering a lighter 360Wh option. For those seeking additional endurance, a 160Wh range extender is available, attaching seamlessly via a Fidlock mount. The bike’s top tube features a colour TQ display, complemented by Bluetooth connectivity to the TQ E-Bike app and ANT+ compatibility for bike computer integration. Riders can customize three assistance modes through the app, tailoring the ride to their preferences.

Frame Design and Ride Quality

The Stealth Air Carbon frameset, weighing a claimed 1,710g in size M/L, is engineered for strength, stiffness, and vertical compliance. Mondraker emphasizes that this frameset meets the same ISO testing standards as its mountain bikes, ensuring durability and performance.

Design elements include Hidden Housing Guide cable routing through the headset, 700x50c tyre clearance, flat mount braking, UDH hanger compatibility, 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear axles, a tapered head tube, and a KSA40 kickstand mount. The carbon fork is designed with the same axle-to-crown length as a 40mm suspension fork at sag, allowing riders to fit a suspension option without changing the bike’s geometry.

Model Range and Availability

The new Dusty range will be available in five sizes — S, M, M/L, L, and XL — with both drop bar and flat bar options on selected builds. The range comprises the Dusty RR, Dusty R, Dusty S Dropbar, and Dusty S Flatbar. Build highlights include SRAM AXS and Shimano GRX or SLX drivetrains, Mavic or Zipp wheelsets, 1×12 gearing with a 42t chainring, and 700x50c tyres. Flat bar Dusty S models add an upright cockpit and X-Fusion Manic dropper seatpost, positioning the bike towards riders seeking a more trail-influenced riding position for mixed terrain and urban use.
