DT Swiss has unveiled significant updates to its 1800 series of aluminum wheels, enhancing performance and durability across the A 1800 Spline DB, E 1800 Spline DB, and G 1800 Spline DB models.
Wider Rims for Enhanced Stability
The updated 1800 series features increased internal rim widths:
- A 1800 Spline DB: Internal width expanded from 20mm to 22mm.
- E 1800 Spline DB: Internal width increased from 22mm to 24mm.
- G 1800 Spline DB: Internal width broadened from 24mm to 26mm.
These adjustments provide better tire support, improving handling and ride quality.
Angular Rim Design for Weight Reduction
The E 1800 and G 1800 models now feature angular rim profiles, reducing weight while maintaining strength and durability. For instance, the E 1800 wheelset’s weight has decreased from 1,764g to 1,627g, and the G 1800 from 1,835g to 1,681g.
Integrated Dynamo Hub Option
An exciting addition is the availability of a DT Swiss dynamo hub for the G 1800 front wheel. Operating at 72% efficiency at 15 km/h, this hub is compatible with most dynamo-powered lighting systems and USB device chargers, offering a reliable power source for extended rides.
