Pirelli has unveiled the P-ZERO Race TLR SL-R, a cutting-edge tubeless-ready road tire engineered for time trials and road racing. Developed in collaboration with professional cyclists from Alpecin–Premier Tech, Fenix–Premier Tech, and Lidl–Trek, this tire aims to deliver optimal aerodynamic performance, comfort, minimal rolling resistance, and reliable grip on both dry and wet surfaces.
Central to the tire’s design is Pirelli’s patented Pirelli Advanced Aerodynamic System (PAAS), which modifies the tire’s shape to enhance rim interaction, streamline airflow, and fully exploit the wheel-tire system’s sailing effect. This design contributes to a reduction in aerodynamic drag, with Pirelli claiming an average saving of up to 5 watts in crosswinds and up to 15 watts in specific conditions. Notably, the PAAS technology maintains the tire’s suppleness, comfort, and grip, ensuring a balanced performance.
The tire’s exceptional aerodynamic properties are complemented by its low rolling resistance, achieved through a new, supple LiteCORE casing combined with the SmartEVO² rubber compound. Pirelli reports a 10% improvement in rolling resistance compared to its previous high-performance tires.
Optimized for modern wide-channel rims with internal widths between 22 and 25 mm, the P-ZERO Race TLR SL-R is compatible with hookless rims, adhering to the specified maximum pressure limits. It is available in 28-622 and 30-622 sizes, featuring black sidewalls with silver labels and a yellow “Team Edition” version. An expanded range, including a 32 mm version, is expected to be introduced after the summer.
