Organic Boost: Softening the Lineup

by VeloMagster

Brake Authority, a French brand renowned for its sintered metal brake pads favored by downhill and enduro riders, has expanded its product line to include organic resin brake pads. Developed in France and produced in Europe, these new pads aim to provide a more accessible alternative with a different feel, without compromising the brand’s performance heritage.

Why Organic Brake Pads?

While Brake Authority continues to champion sintered metal pads for demanding disciplines like downhill, enduro, and e-biking, organic resin pads offer distinct advantages. They deliver superior bite at low speeds and when cold, operate more quietly, and provide a softer touch. Additionally, they are priced between €15.90 and €17.90 per pair, compared to €19.90 to €26.90 for the metal variants.

French Development and European Production

Staying true to its roots, Brake Authority led the development and validation of this new formulation in France, encompassing both laboratory and field tests. While the brand remains committed to local production for its metal pads, the organic range is manufactured in Europe. This decision ensures high-quality production while maintaining a responsible and controlled supply chain. The company has also updated its packaging to more compact and eco-friendly cardboard options across the entire range.

Two Additions to the Range: SLOW and ROAD RESIN

Brake Authority introduces two new models:

  • SLOW (S): Designed for versatile use—urban, road, XC, and AM—this pad offers immediate braking without the need for warming up, with a friction coefficient similar to the renowned Burly metal pad. It’s compatible with “Resin Only” marked discs but has a durability slightly lower than sintered metal pads.

  • ROAD RESIN (RR): Tailored for road, cyclocross, and gravel, this pad emphasizes responsiveness and feel. It ensures effective braking even after long descents without prior use, appealing to riders seeking lightness and tactile feedback.

A Guide to Help Users Choose the Right Pads

Recognizing the challenge of selecting the appropriate brake pads for MTB and gravel, Brake Authority has developed an online “pad selector.” By answering a few simple questions, users can find the model suited to their practice (Urban, Road, Gravel, XC/Trail, or Enduro/DH) in just a few clicks.

This strategic expansion into organic brake pads reflects Brake Authority’s commitment to innovation and responsiveness to the evolving needs of cyclists, offering a balanced blend of performance, comfort, and environmental responsibility.
