In 2026, Prevelo and Kona have introduced innovative full-suspension bikes designed specifically for young riders, aiming to enhance their off-road adventures.
Prevelo Foxtrot Series
Prevelo’s Foxtrot series marks a significant advancement in children’s mountain biking. The Foxtrot Three, for instance, features a hydroformed aluminum frame with a Horst Link suspension platform, offering 120mm of travel both front and rear. This model is equipped with a Manitou JUNIT Comp fork and an RST Mono trunnion rear shock, both custom-tuned to accommodate the lighter weight of young riders. The Foxtrot Three is built around 20-inch wheels, with the Foxtrot Four and Five models scaling up to 24 and 26 inches, respectively, each with increased travel to match the growing needs of young riders. These bikes come equipped with a MicroShift Advent 1×9 or 10-speed drivetrain, tubeless-ready rims and tires, Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes, and Prevelo’s HEIR Pivotal saddles and handlebars, all tailored for smaller hands and bodies. Pricing and availability are expected to be announced later in 2026. (cyclingweekly.com)
Kona Process 246
Kona’s Process 246 is designed for slightly older children, featuring a unique “mini-mullet” configuration with a 26-inch front wheel and a 24-inch rear wheel. The frame is built to accommodate a 26-inch wheel in the rear as the child grows, allowing for a 26/26-inch setup in the future. Specific details regarding components and pricing have yet to be released. (cyclingweekly.com)
These developments reflect a growing commitment to providing young riders with high-quality, performance-oriented bikes that cater to their specific needs and sizes.
