Co-founders Jerry and Beverly Arron, aged 70 and 60 respectively, have decided to retire from the retail side of the business to focus on their personal cycling pursuits.
Since its inception in 1994, Mud Dock Cycleworks has sold over 15,000 bicycles, becoming a cornerstone of Bristol’s cycling culture. The shop is set to close its doors at the end of August, offering customers the opportunity to purchase remaining stock at significant discounts. Notably, the Mud Dock Café, located above the bike shop, will continue to operate unaffected by the closure.
Reflecting on their journey, Jerry Arron expressed pride in their achievements, stating, “We’re fortunate to have worked with some of the best people and brands in the industry. Back in the ’90s, this was just a dream of two 20-something bike-loving design escapees from London!” Beverly Arron echoed these sentiments, highlighting the rewarding relationships built over the years, “It’s been an incredible, enjoyable and massively fulfilling journey. As well as numerous new faces, we’ve seen countless repeat customers over the years – people who’ve come back for second, third and fourth bikes for themselves – or to buy bikes for spouses and then their children.”
