DT Swiss has unveiled an enhanced iteration of its 1800 Line wheelsets, now featuring wider rims and an optional front dynamo hub, catering to cyclists seeking durability and performance across road, endurance, and gravel disciplines.
Expanded Rim Widths for Improved Performance
The updated 1800 Line introduces increased internal rim widths across its range:
- Aero Models: Internal width expanded from 20mm to 22mm.
- Endurance Models: Internal width increased from 22mm to 24mm.
- Gravel Models: Internal width broadened from 24mm to 26mm.
These adjustments are designed to enhance tyre support, allowing riders to run lower pressures without sacrificing performance, thereby improving comfort and grip, especially on longer rides and rougher terrains.
Angular Rim Profiles for Weight Reduction and Durability
The endurance and gravel wheelsets now feature angular rim profiles, a design choice that reduces weight while bolstering durability and impact resistance. For instance, the E 1800 SPLINE wheelset’s weight has been reduced from 1,764g to 1,627g, and the G 1800 SPLINE wheelset’s weight has decreased from 1,835g to 1,681g.
Front Dynamo Hub Option for Enhanced Convenience
A front dynamo hub option is available, utilizing the SP PL-7 generator. This system achieves 72% efficiency at 15 km/h and delivers a standard 6V/3W output. The hub is StVZO compliant and designed to work seamlessly with standard hub dynamo products, including dynamo lamps and converters for USB-powered devices.
