DRIVECO’s New CEO: Accelerating European Growth!

by VeloMagster

DRIVECO, the French leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, is accelerating its European expansion with the appointment of Stefan von Dobschütz as CEO, effective May 1, 2026. This strategic move aims to bolster the company’s growth trajectory and strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving European market.

A New Chapter in Leadership

After twelve years at the helm, co-founder Ion Leahu-Aluas is stepping down, entrusting the operational leadership to von Dobschütz. This transition marks a pivotal moment for DRIVECO as it seeks to scale its operations and enhance its service offerings across Europe.

From Innovator to European Powerhouse

Founded in the early 2010s, DRIVECO emerged with a clear vision: to support the energy transition by providing accessible, reliable, and user-friendly EV charging infrastructure. In 2015, the company launched one of Europe’s first solar-powered charging platforms, setting the stage for its growth into an integrated operator that develops, owns, and manages its charging stations. This approach ensures stringent quality control and high availability—key factors in a maturing market.

Today, DRIVECO manages approximately 360 charging stations, all under its direct control, boasting a 99% availability rate. Recent expansions into Belgium, Italy, and Spain underscore the company’s ambitious European growth plans.

Stefan von Dobschütz: A Leader with Proven Expertise

Von Dobschütz brings over two decades of international experience in mobility and energy sectors. His recent role as CEO Europe at bp pulse involved overseeing large-scale EV charging infrastructure deployments in the UK and Germany. Prior to that, he held positions at innogy eMobility Solutions and the BMW Group, where he contributed to the launch of the BMW i3, one of Europe’s first mass-produced electric vehicles. His background in scaling organizations and driving digital innovation aligns perfectly with DRIVECO’s current objectives.

Strategic Focus on Scaling and Performance

Collaborating with Chairman Gautier Chatelus, von Dobschütz will steer DRIVECO through its next growth phase. The focus will be on scaling operations, enhancing operational performance, and solidifying the company’s presence in an increasingly competitive European market. The goal is to develop a charging network that not only grows but also delivers consistent performance and a seamless experience for both drivers and partners.

A Network Poised for the Next Step

For DRIVECO, this leadership change signifies an acceleration rather than a disruption. The foundation has been laid in recent years with a clear focus on long-term strategic investments and operational excellence. With a CEO experienced in international expansion and infrastructure scaling, the company is well-positioned to advance its mission. In a rapidly growing and professionalizing European market, DRIVECO is positioning itself as a reliable player committed to quality, control over its network, and a consistent user experience.

This strategic appointment reflects DRIVECO’s dedication to leading the charge in Europe’s electric mobility revolution, ensuring that drivers have access to a dependable and expansive charging network as the continent transitions to sustainable transportation solutions.
