Continental Expands Grand Prix: Wider Tyres for a Growing Demand

by VeloMagster

Continental has expanded its Grand Prix range by introducing a 32mm width option, responding to the growing demand for wider tyres among cyclists. This new addition complements the existing 28mm and 30mm sizes, providing riders with more versatility to suit various road conditions and personal preferences.

The Grand Prix tyre features Continental’s BlackChili rubber compound, renowned for its optimal balance of grip and rolling resistance. Its three-ply casing offers low rolling resistance while ensuring robust puncture protection and reliable grip. This combination makes it a dependable choice for cyclists seeking performance and durability.

For those who prefer riding with inner tubes, the new 32mm Grand Prix tyre offers an additional wider option. Previously, the tubeless-ready Grand Prix TR tyre was available in a 32mm width, alongside 25mm, 28mm, and 30mm sizes. The introduction of the 32mm tube-type Grand Prix tyre now provides a comparable choice for riders who opt for traditional inner tubes.

Continental’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of cyclists is evident in this expansion. Hannah Ferle, Road Product Manager for Continental, stated, “We are always striving to develop tyres to meet riders’ needs and ensure they are all catered for, which is why we are introducing the Grand Prix in a 32mm as part of our expansion of the portfolio in 2026.” She further emphasized the company’s recognition of shifting consumer preferences and their dedication to expanding their product offerings accordingly.

This move aligns with Continental’s broader strategy of introducing wider tyre options across its product lines. Earlier this year, the premium Grand Prix 5000 S TR tyre was made available in a 35mm width, catering to riders seeking enhanced comfort and control on diverse terrains. Additionally, the GP 5000 TT TR now includes a 30mm-wide tyre, complementing the previously offered 25mm and 28mm sizes. The four-season GP 5000 AS TR is also available in widths ranging from 25mm to 35mm, further demonstrating Continental’s commitment to providing a comprehensive range of tyre options.

The introduction of the 32mm Grand Prix tube-type tyre is priced at €45.95, maintaining consistency with the pricing of other widths in the range. This strategic pricing ensures that cyclists can access high-quality tyres that meet their specific needs without compromising on performance or value.

In summary, Continental’s addition of the 32mm width to its Grand Prix range reflects a proactive approach to the evolving preferences of cyclists. By offering a wider selection of tyre sizes, Continental continues to support riders in achieving optimal performance, comfort, and safety across various cycling disciplines.
