Canyon Grail: Now with MTB Tires!

by VeloMagster

Canyon’s third-generation Grail gravel bike, launched in September 2026, introduces significant updates, notably a substantial increase in tire clearance. The new Grail accommodates tires up to 57 mm (2.25 inches) wide, up from the previous 42 mm, allowing riders to tackle rougher terrains with enhanced stability and comfort. (cyclingweekly.com)

To achieve this expanded clearance, Canyon has transitioned to a single-chainring drivetrain across the Grail range, eliminating the double chainring setup. This design choice not only provides the necessary space for wider tires but also simplifies maintenance and reduces weight. (velodisco.com)

The updated Grail features a more aggressive geometry, including a longer wheelbase and a 71.5-degree head angle, aimed at improving predictability and control on loose and rough surfaces. These adjustments contribute to a more confident and composed riding experience, especially in challenging conditions. (cyclingmagazine.ca)

Aerodynamics have also been enhanced, with testing at 35 km/h showing performance improvements of up to 6.3 watts over the previous generation. This makes the Grail not only more capable on diverse terrains but also faster on the flats. (cyclingnews.com)

The Grail is available in three carbon frame options: CFR, CF SLX, and CF, with frame weights ranging from 989g to 1,128g. Prices start at €2,499 for the entry-level CF 7 model and go up to €8,000 for the top-tier Grail CFR AXS, which features SRAM Red XPLR components. (cyclingweekly.com)
