Kali Protectives has unveiled the Kru, a groundbreaking full-face helmet that seamlessly integrates downhill-level protection with the lightweight comfort desired by trail and enduro riders. This innovative design draws inspiration from hockey helmets, featuring a continuous 360° titanium chin bar—a first in the cycling industry. (bikerumor.com)

The Kru’s design philosophy addresses the longstanding compromise between the robust protection of full-face helmets and the ventilation and comfort of half-shell designs. By incorporating a titanium chin bar directly into the helmet’s molding process, Kali Protectives has created a structure that offers exceptional strength without adding unnecessary weight. This approach ensures that the chin bar remains unobtrusive during rides, enhancing both safety and comfort. (bikebiz.com)

In terms of performance, the Kru meets ASTM F1952 downhill certification, along with CPSC and EN 1078 standards. Kali Protectives has also conducted extensive internal testing, including multi-directional impact assessments, to ensure the helmet’s resilience under various conditions. (bikebiz.com)

The helmet’s construction features Composite Fusion shell technology and an ERT (Energy Return Technology) low-density liner layer, effectively mitigating both impact and rotational forces while maintaining a lightweight profile. With a claimed weight of 650 grams for the S/M size and 680 grams for the L/XL, the Kru stands out as a competitive option in the full-face helmet market. (pinkbike.com)

Fit customization is facilitated through Kali’s Frequency Fit System, which includes multiple pad sets to accommodate various head shapes. The Kru is available in two shell sizes—S/M and L/XL—and comes in Solid Black and Solid White color options. The helmet is set to begin shipping on August 3rd, with a retail price of $460. (bikebiz.com)

In summary, the Kali Kru helmet represents a significant advancement in cycling safety gear, merging the protective qualities of full-face helmets with the comfort and ventilation needed for trail and enduro riding. Its innovative design and thoughtful engineering make it a noteworthy choice for riders seeking enhanced protection without compromising on comfort.
