Alyssa Secreto, a 35-year-old endurance cyclist from Colorado Springs, was struck by a vehicle on July 2, 2026, approximately 60 miles from the finish line of the 2,745-mile Tour Divide. At the time, she was in second place among female competitors. The collision resulted in multiple severe injuries, including eight fractured vertebrae, six cracked ribs, a broken arm, internal bleeding, a brain bleed, and lacerations to the kidney, spleen, and liver. Following the accident, Alyssa was airlifted from New Mexico to El Paso, Texas, where she is currently receiving emergency medical care. In 2024, she completed the Tour Divide in 24 days and 1 hour, placing sixth. This year, she had already secured victories in events like the Grand Loop before the accident.
