Rimini’s Transformation

Rimini’s selection as the host city highlights its remarkable transformation from a car-centric to a sustainable, livable, and healthy urban environment. A flagship project is the 15 km Urban Sea Park, which has converted car-dominated infrastructure into green spaces, cycling and walking paths, and recreational areas. She emphasized the importance of public space and equity in urban design, advocating for environments that are dynamic, democratized, and socially inclusive. Diller cited the High Line in Manhattan as an example of transforming underutilized spaces into vibrant public areas.
