Fizik’s Ergolace 2 shoes have been meticulously engineered to enhance comfort and versatility for riders venturing into diverse terrains. Available in both flat and clipless versions, these shoes cater to a wide range of cycling disciplines, from gravel adventures to cross-country mountain biking.

Design and Fit

The Ergolace 2 introduces a redesigned last with a wider forefoot, reducing pressure during extended rides. This anatomical adjustment ensures a more natural foot position, enhancing comfort both on and off the bike. The shoes are available in sizes ranging from 36 to 48, including half sizes from 37 to 47, accommodating a broad spectrum of foot shapes. (bikeradar.com)

Outsole and Traction

Tailored for diverse riding conditions, the Ergolace 2 features specific outsoles for flat and clipless versions. The flat version is equipped with the Vibram XS Ride outsole, while the clipless model utilizes the Vibram Megagrip. These outsoles are optimized for walking, with lower-profile lugs enhancing pedal interface and deeper, more aggressive tread at the heel and toe providing traction on loose ground. (bikepacking.com)

Stiffness and Performance

Balancing stiffness and flexibility, the Ergolace 2 clipless version has a stiffness rating of 5/10, and the flat version a 2/10. This design ensures efficient power transfer while maintaining comfort during off-bike activities. (bikepacking.com)

Waterproofing and Durability

For riders facing varied weather conditions, the Ergolace 2 offers a waterproof GORE-TEX version. This model incorporates a lightweight GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane, providing protection against the elements without compromising breathability. The upper is constructed from breathable ripstop nylon, complemented by PU-laminated sections in high-wear areas to enhance durability. (bikeradar.com)

Closure System

The asymmetric Ergolace closure system, featuring a lightweight cord and locking mechanism, allows for quick, on-the-go adjustments, keeping the laces out of the chainrings and ensuring a secure fit throughout the ride. (bikeradar.com)

Pricing and Availability

The standard Ergolace 2 is priced at $149, while the GORE-TEX versions are available for $189.
