Revelate Designs, a pioneer in bikepacking gear, has introduced the Speedbag, a compact stem-mounted bag that builds upon the legacy of their original Mountain Feedbag. This review delves into the Speedbag’s design, features, and performance, offering insights for cyclists seeking efficient storage solutions.

Design and Materials

The Speedbag features a cylindrical design with a lid crafted from 40D Ripstop fabric, exterior pockets made of Challenge Ultra Stretch material, and a main body constructed from Dimension Polyant UVX40 with Aramid X-Ply. This combination ensures durability and resistance to wear. The bag includes a single, rigid interior wall and offers an internal capacity just shy of a liter. Its slightly angled bottom provides additional clearance against the knees, enhancing comfort during rides. Weighing just 94 grams, the Speedbag is available in two colors and is made in the USA.

Mounting and Stability

The Speedbag utilizes a hard internal liner on one side, allowing it to be mounted on either side of the handlebars. This design choice enhances stability and minimizes potential interference with the rider’s knees. The bag’s attachment system, featuring durable straps and a rigid liner, ensures a secure fit, even on rough terrains.

Functionality and Accessibility

The bag’s design includes exterior pockets suitable for small items like wrappers or AirPods. While these pockets are convenient, they may not be the most secure place to keep important items. The main compartment accommodates various bottle sizes, including 21oz and one-liter bottles, ensuring versatility for different hydration needs.

Pros

Cons

Conclusion

Revelate Designs’ Speedbag offers a compact and efficient storage solution for cyclists. Its thoughtful design, quality materials, and versatile mounting options make it a valuable addition to any bikepacking setup. While it may not be suitable for all riders, those seeking a lightweight and secure stem-mounted bag will find the Speedbag to be a commendable choice.
