On Friday, September 18, 2026, the latest edition of Wielerflits Magazine was officially launched at the renowned cycling café, Village Départ, nestled in the picturesque Vlagheideberg region of Schijndel, North Brabant. The event was a delightful and sunlit afternoon, bringing together avid readers, partners, and cycling enthusiasts. The highlight of the gathering was a live recording of the Wielerflits Podcast, featuring esteemed guests Lars Boom and Marc van Rooij.

The day commenced with a 30-kilometer cycling tour through the scenic landscapes surrounding Schijndel and Veghel, including a challenging ascent of the newly paved Vlagheideberg. This climb, with gradients reaching up to 17%, has rapidly become a favorite among cyclists in the region. As the riders embarked on their journey, the sun broke through the clouds, promising a beautiful afternoon ahead.

By 3:00 PM, attendees began to arrive at Village Départ, including former professional cyclist and current team director Lars Boom of FDJ United-SUEZ, and former Shimano president Marc van Rooij. The live Wielerflits Podcast delved into topics featured in the new magazine, such as the Vlagheideberg climb, the impending retirement of Bauke Mollema, the latest developments in the cycling industry, and the upcoming World Championships.

During the podcast, Boom discussed the recent transfer of Fem van Empel, who is making a surprising return to the FDJ team, a move in which Boom played a significant role. He also shared insights as the team director of Demi Vollering, looking ahead to her World Championship aspirations in Canada. Van Rooij reflected on his tenure at Shimano, the latest innovations, and some of the UCI’s recent decisions.

The latest episode of the Wielerflits Podcast will soon be available on Spotify and YouTube. In addition to Boom and Van Rooij, magazine editors-in-chief Raymond Kerckhoffs and Rodrick de Munnik also participated in the discussion.

The new Wielerflits Magazine, featuring exclusive interviews with Bauke Mollema, Chris Froome, and Richard Carapaz, as well as a special guide to the upcoming World and European Championships, is now available. Cycling enthusiasts can look forward to in-depth coverage of the sport’s latest developments and insights into the cycling world.
